How to choose a work bag: briefcase, backpack or messenger
Choose by what you carry, how you travel and where you work. For most men in an office or client-facing role, a structured leather briefcase sized to their laptop is the most versatile answer.
Start with the laptop
Measure what you carry every day. A 15-inch laptop needs a bag around 38 cm wide or more; a 14-inch fits a slimmer case. Add a charger, a notebook and documents, and decide whether you need one compartment or two.
Briefcase, backpack or messenger
- Briefcase: the most polished option. Holds its shape, works with a suit or smart casual, carried by hand or on a shoulder strap.
- Backpack: easiest on long walks or cycling, but reads casual and creases jackets. Best for creative or informal workplaces.
- Messenger or crossbody: relaxed and quick to access. Good when the laptop stays at the office.
Material and colour
Leather lasts longer than nylon or canvas and looks better as it ages. Black is the most formal and goes with everything; Brown is warmer and pairs well with navy, grey and denim.
Where House of Azuro fits
Augusto (€249) is the structured choice for a 15-inch laptop and a full day: two main compartments, a rear zip pocket and a detachable strap. Orsini (€199) is slimmer, for a 14-inch laptop and a light carry. If the laptop stays at your desk, Ravello (€99) covers the commute.
